Yay for Friday! Can I get a woohoo for the weekend!? Is it just me or is anyone else in shock that January has somehow completely passed? When we changed the calendar today to February I found it hard to believe that it was really true! Although my kiddos were all too excited that tomorrow was groundhogs day, so when they found out that we were going to be making groundhog predictions they were hooked!
I’m sorry about the poor quality of pics in this post–I forgot my nice camera at home today, but these little groundhogs were just way too cute to not take pics of!
My kiddos did a great job on their writing! We’ve been working on making sure that when we give an opinion we back it up with explaining why and use the word because in our explanations. My kids were hilarious as they kept commenting about the “cute little ears” and “cute paws” as they were making their groundhogs. I have to admit-I L.O.V.E. how they turned out:
Ha! This groundhog makes me laugh! We decided that our girl groundhog would be named Phyllis!
As you can see from our graph, my kiddos are pulling for Spring!
And after today’s chilly recess duty, I think I’m jumping on that vote too! 🙂 Even though, I’m still rooting for just one snow day-even though we would have to make it up. There is just something about waking up to a winter wonderland and not being able to go anywhere!
If you didn’t have time to fit in groundhog predictions today, it’s not too late to get in on the groundhog day fun!
My Groundhog Day Craft and Graph includes everything you need to make the craft, graph the predictions, and write about it! It actually includes 5 different writing options.
The Dear Groundhog option would be perfect for an opinion writing piece on Monday for the kids to write a letter telling the groundhog how they feel about the results from Saturday!
